The Mono County Sheriff’s Office is celebrating our Public Safety Officers in recognition of National Public Safety Telecommunications Week.

In 1991, Congress formally proclaimed the second full week in April “National Telecommunications Week” to recognize the women and men who put countless hours behind the radio, phone and computer to ensure the highest level of public safety. “The Mono County Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Officers are the silent heroes that direct the fire departments, paramedics and law enforcement agencies to serve their communities in life saving efforts,” said Undersheriff Michael Moriarty.

Our Public Safety Officers are not only here to serve the communication needs of the Mono County Sheriff’s Office, but also to provide service for the Mammoth Lakes Police Department, Mono County Paramedics, and all the fire protection districts throughout Mono County (including Antelope Valley, Bridgeport, Lee Vining, June Lake, Mammoth Lakes, Long Valley, Wheeler Crest/Paradise, Chalfant/White Mountain/Benton).

Our Public Safety Officers are not only there to answer the call and get proper resources to any situation, they are also our jailers. They are there to ensure the jail operates properly including the safety of all inmates.

The Public Safety Officers are the first ones to receive the call for all emergency and non-emergency situations. They are truly the first people to respond to a citizen’s call for help. They are that calm, reassuring voice that help is on the way. “Our Public Safety Officers ensure that those who live, work and visit Mono County get help when they need it most. They are the lifeline for the first responders and those people in need,” said Sheriff Ingrid Braun.

Where our Public Safety Officers are recognized daily for their dedication, please join the Mono County Sheriff’s Office in recognizing and truly thanking them for all they do for Mono County! Here’s to each of you! Thank you!
