Mono County Board of Supervisors Recognizes Lorinda Beatty as 2023 Community Spirit Award Winner

MONO COUNTY, Calif. (JANUARY 23, 2024) – Earlier this month, the Mono County Board of Supervisors presented Lorinda Beatty with the fourth annual Mono County Community Spirit Award.  As outgoing Chair, Supervisor Rhonda Duggan (District 2) selected Ms. Beatty for her dedicated commitment to our community, and public service. 

"Lorinda Beatty demonstrates the true meaning of community service, and I am honored to recognize her as the 2023 recipient of the Community Spirit Award,” said Supervisor Duggan. 

Ms. Beatty works for three Special Districts that serve the residents of District 2, and has recently been appointed to the Long Valley Fire Protection District's Board.  She is a frequent volunteer for her church and the youth programs in her community.  In addition, she monitors many local meetings, including the Board of Supervisors, so she can keep members of her Special Districts informed on key issues. 

“It takes every one of us to care for one another,” said Beatty.  “My favorite quote is ‘Love God, love one another.’  I see it every time I leave the Von’s parking lot.  We all have a back story or past regrets, but we can also give a message that will cause a chain reaction of understanding, love, and kindness to one another.”

“Crowley Lake is a tight community,” she continued.  “The Eastern Sierra is beautiful, wild and rugged.  It’s comforting to know we are there for one another and I am so thankful to be a part of such a loving community.”

The Community Spirit Award was launched in 2021 by Supervisor Stacy Corless following her tenure as Chair.  The award celebrates local individuals who took initiative to do something beneficial for their community in the most difficult times.
